Indian trade ledgers, 1836-1848.

Account books that list, via pictographs, the purchases (trade goods) and payments (furs) made by individual Indians. They have been attributed to Louis Provençalle, Sr., an American Fur Company trader at Traverse des Sioux on the St. Peter's (Minnesota) River. Accompanied by explanatory notes compiled by Clement H. Beaulieu, Jr.

Clement H. Beaulieu, Jr. was an Episcopal clergyman whose father was a Lake Superior fur trader.
